A day without immigrants.

I rather enjoyed it. I don’t know if it’s because they decided to actually stay at home or if it was simply because the stars aligned but I was presently surprised. The normal two-hour commute only took about an hour and ten minutes. I’m going to recommend that they next try “A week without immigrants.” It may not have the affect they intend, though. If everybody’s experience is as mine, construction on the world’s largest catapult to fling them back over the border will soon be underway.

That is the funniest picture I've seen today.

Do you have any idea what the actual issue is? So far I've just heard a lot of "We're here, we're proud, and you need us." And I think okay, cool. And...? What is it you want?

They want us to say, "Well, you came here illegally but that's okay, you can stay. You're now a legal citizen. You don't have to go through the same procedures (and headaches) that legal immigrants do. Go ahead, jump to the front of the line. Drag on a government teat or two. Because you're important and our country can't function without you."

As to the picture... every friday night is "theme night" at our house. We've had pizza night where the boys made their own mini-pizzas, All-American night with burgers, this past friday was fiesta night. Donna busted out the sombreros & maracas & I donned an old moustache. She was cracking up & just had to take a picture so....

Is that really it? Immediate amnesty for all illegal immigrants? Doesn't seem safe or smart. I have a hard time believing that most Americans will buy off on that. If they were to propose some process by which they might become legit, well, okay, let's talk.

I have an appreciation for what they're up against and what they do. I'd probably sneek across a border too if it meant a better life for my kids. I'm all for bringing them into the family, but let's at least screen out the (probably) small percentage that are real criminals.
